10k a Day Step Challenge

10k a Day Step Challenge

This 10,000 a day step challenge is about moving more each day and tracking the number of steps you take using a pedometer or activity tracker.

The goal is 10,000 steps a day, or about five miles. Most people take between 6,000 and 7,000 steps a day even if they don’t exercise. There’s evidence that pedometer users walk more than 2,000 additional steps each day than non-users, even if they don’t have a formal exercise programme. There are many ways to track activity ranging from a simple pedometer, wearable technology, mobile phone apps or high tech wristbands.

The challenge simply uses our WELL 121 App to track your activity manually or through connecting with over 100 fitness apps.

10k a Day Step Challenge Benefits

Exercise is able to raise heart rate and increase the flow of oxygen-rich blood in the body, including the brain.

A 2013 study published in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience found shorter term aerobic exercise, like running, improves brain, cognition, and cardiovascular fitness in healthy aging adult. It also increases your self-confidence as you reach fitness and/or weight loss goals. Running can help relieve mild depression. Insomniacs take note – studies show that runners find it easier to get to sleep at night and sleep longer. Running increases your ability to cope with everyday minor irritations and stresses
